Introducing... Economummy!

The most valuable thing I've learnt from my Dad, thus far, is the one thing that I hope my son will learn from me.
Like most people at some point in our lives, or many - as is my case, when asked to do something I would often ask in a somewhat sarcastic/whiny/teen-tone "Do I have a choice?", to which Dad would reply with "You always have a choice... but, there are consequences to your decisions."
Whether he intended it or not, this little qwit was my first taste of understanding the fundamentals of economics - The Science of Life.
In every step of life we have choices to make, many of our choices are made with little consideration and seem somewhat automatic, while others take time and lots of research to conclude. Economics is in every choice, helping us to understand our options and why we make the choices we do.
Since recently becoming a mother, I've found that I'm applying my "economic mind" to my method of parenting, from choosing nappies, to routines and even to helping me deal with post-natal depression.
It is because it applies to EVERYTHING that I find the study of economics so interesting. It really is as simple as taking an objective, even cynical, view of our world and all the better for it!
So, to conclude my first blog post as a life-economics commentator, I'd like to thank you, Dad, for making me the cynical b*tch we know and love!
